San Jose Mercury News: Council to consider final approval for Site A, July 2, 2015

On Tuesday the council will consider final passage of the ordinance approving its development agreement with Alameda Point Partners, the team of developers behind the project that has been hailed as a milestone for the future of the former U.S. Navy base.

The council will consider giving the final OK as part of its consent calendar, in which items are passed without discussion unless the mayor or a councilmember pulls them. The upcoming vote follows the council unanimously approving the waterfront project last month during a meeting that attracted more than 50 public speakers and lasted into early the next morning.

"This first phase of redevelopment will transform Alameda Point from an underutilized former military base into a vibrant mixed-use transit-oriented development," Interim City Manager Elizabeth Warmerdam said in a statement. "It will be enormously helpful in rebuilding the infrastructure at the base at no cost to the city and will support the existing businesses at Alameda Point who have faithfully invested in our community and patiently waited for much-needed upgrades."
