Forty-two years ago this month, the astronauts of Apollo 11 splashed down into the ocean after walking on the moon. As we watch the space shuttle program execute its last mission, the Hornet - the aircraft carrier, now a museum in Alameda, that recovered the lunar command module from the sea - will celebrate the anniversary of the Apollo 11 splashdown Saturday with a special Living Ship Day.
