Mercury News: Veterans urge Alameda's support of new facility at Alameda Point

Excerpt:

ALAMEDA MILITARY VETERANS as well as their comrades throughout Alameda County are encouraging the city of Alameda to support the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' initiative to build a modern, state of the art outpatient clinic and columbaria at the former Alameda Naval Air Station. Representatives from the department recently sought out the veterans organizations, asking their support to galvanize their veteran population to communicate with the news media and Alameda city officials to take an active role in supporting the initiative. In addition, many veterans have communicated with the Secretary of Veterans Affairs along with congressional and county representatives in an effort to encourage them to set a high priority for the outpatient clinic and columbaria project.
