The Island: Council, School Board hold joint meet on Point
The City Council and the School Board are holding a special joint meeting at 7 p.m. this Tuesday, January 5 to talk about development at Alameda Point. And important note: They’ll be at Mastick Senior Center, 1155 Santa Clara Avenue.
Mayor Beverly Johnson, Vice Mayor Doug deHaan and City Councilman Frank Matarrese have all come out against the measure. Councilwoman and mayoral hopeful Marie Gilmore told The Island a while back that she understands it’s got issues but that she hopes to press forward on inking a development deal with SunCal, the master developer the council selected for the Point. Councilwoman Lena Tam has said she supports Alameda residents’ right to vote on the matter.
