Excerpt:

When I left Philadelphia, I went to the Naval Air Station in Alameda, Calif. I was there from 1944 to 1946, and I was a secretary to three successive admirals.

What we were doing there was training and deploying air groups aboard carriers, so I was in Naval aviation at that time.

We would send them out on six-month tours, and then they'd come back and be reassigned for a period of time. Then, we'd reassign another air group. We had 10 outlying fields, and we were constantly training and retraining air groups.
