Contra Costa Times: Council gets briefing on redeveloping waterfront area of Alameda Point, January 24, 2015
Excerpt:
Alameda Point Partners, a partnership of developers that has an exclusive negotiation agreement to redevelop the site, also proposes extending Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway to help link the area with Webster Street and the city's West End.
The council took no action Tuesday, though members did voice concern about environmental cleanup and the impact of traffic generated by the project, which also includes plans for as many as 800 homes and 200,000 square feet of commercial space.
Joe Ernst, the partnership's day-to-day manager for the project, which city officials are calling "Site A," noted that the goal will be to attract artisans and crafts workers as well as retailers, reflecting the kind of businesses that are at Alameda Point.
