Staff recommends build site, developer for new tenant

Alameda is among the six sites that the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) has on its short list for a second campus. Developing the lab's second campus would encompass two phases. In phase one, LBNL intends to consolidate some 480,000 square feet of laboratory and office space currently spread over the East Bay. Phase two would need to meet the lab's needs over the next 30 to 50 years. This means the site should be able to accommodate approximately 2 million more square feet for research and development facilities.
