Alameda Sun: Chinatown Worries Over Alameda’s Growth

The impending mass of development in the city of Alameda’s West End will increase the amount of cars driving through the Webster-Posey tubes, studies have shown. Members of an Oakland Chinatown advisory committee are concerned with that future increase because the densely packed neighborhood and its peripatetic residents are stuck between West Alameda and the rest of the world.
The Oakland Chinatown Advisory Committee met with the city of Alameda Planning Board on Monday night. It was the first time the committee met with a city commission since the OCAC was created in 2004 following a settlement among the cities of Alameda and Oakland and Oakland Chinatown.
