Alameda Sun: Base Jets Restored to Former Glory, April 5, 2013

Excerpt:

The A-4 Skyhawk and the A-7 Corsair II fighter jets are now available for public viewing at Alameda Point after a lengthy restoration project.

In June 2011, a crane accidentally dropped the Navy's A-4 Skyhawk while putting it back on its pylon at Alameda Point's Main Gate, causing significant damage. Dick Rutter and Tim Conner, both architects, were pegged by the city to rebuild the jet to its standard form. It took the two men, along with several volunteers, 89 days to rebuild the aircraft, which was completed in December 2011.
