ALAMEDA -- People can weigh in on plans to build a health clinic and columbarium for veterans at Alameda Point during an upcoming meeting hosted by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Navy.

The project also calls for turning over 74 acres to the VA to provide a buffer between a colony of endangered California least terns and the clinic and columbarium. The land was initially set to go to the city.

The meeting to gather input on the draft Environmental Assessment for the project will take place from 4-7 p.m. April 10 at the Albert H. DeWitt Officers' Club, 641 West Redline Ave.
