The first homes in the same area of Alameda Point where a new ferry terminal is planned could be built and open within three years, according to a developer behind the project.

Trammell Crow Residential, part of a team of developers known as Alameda Point Partners, also said completion of new infrastructure — which city officials say must happen to spur additional development nearby — could be finished about the same time.

A groundbreaking is expected in April.
