Two East Bay firms have been awarded $54.7 million to design and build an operations and maintenance facility for ferries, the largest contract in the history of the San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority, the agency announced Friday.
The awardees are Overaa Construction, of Richmond, and Power Engineering Construction Co., of Alameda, who will construct the Central Bay Operations and Maintenance Facility at the former Naval Air Station at Alameda Point in Alameda.
The agency also announced that its board has approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Alameda for a future Seaplane Lagoon Ferry Terminal Service project. It is supposed to include an expansion terminal, Seaplane Lagoon, as part of a large, mixed-use development. The terminal will be constructed by Alameda Point Partners in conjunction with Alameda.
