San Jose Mercury News: Training exercise brings hundreds of reserve soldiers to Alameda, July 31, 2015
Excerpt:
The soldiers, nearly all reservists, were taking part in "Big Logistics-Over-The-Shore, West," a two-week training exercise that began July 25. Along with the former Alameda Naval Air Station, which closed in April 1997, the exercise is taking place at the Military Ocean Terminal in Concord and Camp Parks, the Army's reserve forces training area in Dublin.
The goal is to hone their skills loading and unloading material from ships, as well as to learn how to coordinate the work on shore from a makeshift camp powered with generators -- or the kind of camp that the U.S. Army would set up while carrying out relief work following a major disaster.
