San Jose Mercury News: Home Lifestyles Story Alameda: 'Spirits Alley' christened on Island, October 22, 2014
Excerpt:
The City of Alameda is calling a half-mile stretch of Monarch Street on Alameda Point "Spirits Alley" thanks to the growing presence of wineries, distilleries and other beverage firms.
Mayor Marie Gilmore and other elected officials joined with local businesses to officially launch the area's new name Oct. 17 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and networking event.
"This marks a brand-new beginning for Alameda Point," said Gilmore. "We get to come out here and work out, eat, drink and have fun. All the businesses have worked together to bring more entertainment to Alameda Point than any one business could bring on its own."
"Spirits Alley" includes St.
George Spirits, which opened its doors on Alameda Point in 2002, as well as Brix Beverage, Building 43 Winery, Faction Brewing Company, Hangar 1 Vodka and Rock Wall Wine Company.
