In September 2011, the federal government gave the city of Alameda $225,000 to prepare an economic development strategy for Alameda Point. The city awarded the contract to Keyser Marston Associates (KMA), which has been actively involved in redeveloping closed military bases.
The firm has successfully helped attract private development at Hamilton Air Base in Novato and Fort Ord in Monterey.
