Candidate Gilmore's answer to the Democratic Club Questionnaire

In four years, we should have negotiated a successful agreement with the Navy for
transfer of the land and completed an EIR that will inform our decisions with regard to items like traffic, toxic cleanup, sea level rise and endangered wildlife. As a community, we will have reached consensus on what we want to see at Alameda Point: the number and types of housing, the extent to which we preserve our historical resources, green and light industry, retail and a solid partnership with the Veteran’s Administration. This will be accomplished within the context of the realization that addressing the traffic impacts and fiscal neutrality (development at Alameda Point must pay for itself) are the keys to developing Alameda Point. Development at Alameda Point should create well paying jobs and open space (the beautiful views of SF) for all our residents to enjoy as well as active playing fields to alleviate the demand on our existing fields.
