NOTICE OF ADDITIONAL PUBLIC MEETING AND EXTENSION OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD FOR THE DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT (EA) FOR THE TRANSFER OF EXCESS FEDERAL PROPERTY AND DEVELOPMENT OF AN OUTPATIENT CLINIC, OFFICES, AND NATIONAL CEMETERY AT THE FORMER (NAS)
SUMMARY: The Navy and VA, as joint lead agencies, are extending the public comment period for the Draft EA for the transfer of excess Federal property and development of an outpatient clinic, offices, and National Cemetery at the former NAS Alameda, California until Friday, April 19, 2013. A Notice of Availability (NOA) of the public comment period and announcement of a public meeting was published on February 22, 23, and 24, 2013. The notice announced the initial public comment period, including two public meetings which were held on Thursday, March 14, 2013. The initial public comment period requested the submission of all comments on the Draft EA by Friday, March 29, 2013. In response to public input, the Navy and VA are extending the public comment period until Friday, April 19, 2013 (total 56 days). In addition, a third public meeting will be held to provide an additional opportunity for the public to receive information and comment on the Draft EA. The meeting will be preceded by an open information session to allow interested individuals to review information presented in the Draft EA.
