Contra Costa Times: New home for harbor seals proposed, July 2, 2015

Excerpt:

A new home for harbor seals at Alameda Point would be installed east of the former dock that the animals now use and closer toward Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach under a plan proposed by the Water Emergency Transportation Authority.

The proposed haul-out, which the City Council will learn about Tuesday, also would move the seals further away from the $50 million ferry maintenance facility that WETA plans to build at the former U.S. Navy base.

As part of WETA's lease with the city for the property at 670 West Hornet Ave., the agency has set aside $100,000 for the haul-out.
