Orange County Register: Marblehead developer optimistic some work may resume soon

Excerpt:

Some activity may soon awaken at the stalled 308-home Marblehead Coastal development in San Clemente.

The City Council was told Tuesday night that a bankruptcy court may soon release funds so that SunCal Marblehead LLC, developer of the 248-acre site bordered by Avenida Pico, El Camino Real and I-5, can:

• complete an Avenida Vista Hermosa bridge

• make street improvements along Pico and El Camino Real

• carry out flood-control measures for winter

• restore designated open-space areas

SunCal's Peter Johnson, appearing before the City Council, made the announcement, stating that work could begin shortly after the first of the year.

"That's great news ... can we get that in writing?" Mayor Lori Donchak replied.
