The city of Alameda will present a formal proposal that outlines the reasons why Alameda Point is the best location for a campus of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to lab representatives today.

Along with Alameda, Oakland and Richmond are also expected to file proposals to secure the campus, which must be within a 25-minute commute from the laboratory in the Berkeley hills near the University of California.

"We have a very strong application," Acting City Manager Lisa Goldman said Wednesday. "If all goes well, I think we will be on the shortlist."
